For founders of YC companies

Lifecycle marketing on autopilot. Free for six months.

Sortment puts AI agents on top of your own data. They find the users who stalled, build the journeys that bring them back, and measure the lift, with you approving every send. Mercury runs retention marketing on it with a tiny team. YC founders get it free for six months, set up live on one 30-minute call.

No card. No contract. If it finds nothing useful in two weeks, we will say so.

The YC offer
  • Sortment Pro, free for six months
The Pro plan is $40 a month on our public price list. For YC companies it is free for six months. No card, no procurement.
  • A 30-minute live setup with a co-founder
Ishan connects your data with you on the call, so you leave with the agents already looking at real users, not a sandbox.
  • Your data stays in your warehouse
Sortment reads from Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks or ClickHouse. Nothing is copied into a second CRM, and your data is not used to train models.
  • Every send approved by you
The agents propose audiences, copy and journeys. Your team approves before anything goes out, on email, WhatsApp, SMS, push, in-app or webhooks.
How it works

From a read-only database role to a measured journey in one call.

There is no migration and no second copy of your customer data. The agents work where your data already is.

  1. 01

    Connect your data

Point Sortment at your warehouse or product database with a read-only role. Most teams do this on the setup call itself.

  2. 02

    The agents find the opportunities

Users who signed up but never activated, deposits that stalled at KYC, subscribers about to lapse. The agents surface them, size them, and draft the journey for each.

  3. 03

You approve, it runs, the lift is measured

Each journey keeps a holdout group, so after two weeks you see what moved and by how much. If nothing moved, the agents say so.

Who it is for

If your product has sign-ups, deposits, orders or sessions, the agents have something to work with from day one.

Questions

The things founders ask before the call.

Is it actually free?
Yes. The Pro plan ($40 a month on the public price list) is free for six months for companies in a YC batch. There is no card on file and no contract. Email volume above the plan's allowance is priced separately on the pricing calculator, and we will tell you before you get near it.
What happens after six months?
You pick a plan from the public price list, or stay on the Free plan. Nothing renews or charges by itself, because there is no card on file.
Do we need an engineer to set this up?
A read-only database role is all the engineering it takes, and that is usually a five-minute job. Everything after that, from audiences to journeys to measurement, is run by the agents and approved by whoever owns growth.
We are two people and have no marketer. Is this still for us?
That is the team it was built for. The agents do the work a lifecycle marketer would do; you approve it. See how Soundverse ran it without hiring a retention team.
Do you use our data to train AI models?
No. Your data is never used for model training. Sortment reads from your warehouse and writes back campaign results; the data stays yours.
Which channels can it send on?
Email, WhatsApp, SMS, push and in-app messages, plus webhooks to anything else. You can bring your own sending providers or use ours.
Is Sortment affiliated with Y Combinator?
No. Sortment is an independent company. This offer is ours, for founders of YC companies, because several of our customers came from that community and the fit has been good.

You will talk to Ishan, Sortment’s co-founder. We connect your data on the call, point the agents at it, and agree what a useful first two weeks would look like. If you would rather poke around first, the Free plan needs no call at all.
